The Arroyo El Sauz–Nuevo Laredo Section forms part of the Saltillo–Nuevo Laredo railway, a strategic infrastructure project to strengthen railway connectivity between northern Mexico and the United States border.

This section is particularly relevant due to its connection with Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, one of the main commercial crossing points in the north of the country. Its development will improve the capacity and efficiency of passenger and freight rail, while contributing to the integration of railway infrastructure across north-eastern Mexico.

Description of the works

The project includes the construction and modernisation of railway infrastructure in the Nuevo Laredo area, including works associated with the rail formation, structures, drainage, level crossings and the adaptations required to guarantee safe and efficient railway operation.

The project will be delivered using a fast-track approach, whereby construction begins in phases as each section is completed without the need to wait for the entire project to be finalised. As a result, work may begin in those parts that already have their corresponding detailed engineering design.
