The construction of the Estación Terminal Santa Marta of the Elevated Trolleybus has been carried out, a strategic project to improve connectivity and public transportation in the eastern area of Ciudad de México. The works included the execution of a curved viaduct that will connect the terminal station with Trolleybus Line 8, forming a fundamental part of the Santa Marta Modal Transfer Center (CETRAM), which integrates the transportation systems in the area: Metro, Bus, Cablebús and Elevated Trolleybus.

Project description

The station is located in the eastern area, between Ciudad de México and the Estado de México, which is why the project has been divided into two phases to facilitate coordination between both administrations. The elevated infrastructure consists of four levels that include pedestrian access areas, concourses, platforms and covered areas, designed with a robust reinforced concrete structure to guarantee its strength and durability.

Phase 1, the terminal station, includes the construction of an elevated structure with four levels: street level and bus terminal, a 704 m² concourse-walkway, 1,178 m² trolleybus platforms and a 581 m² roof. The main structure is composed of large reinforced concrete frames, with considerable section columns and deep foundations using piles that guarantee stability in a complex urban environment.

Phase 2 includes the curved viaduct, which connects Trolleybus Line 8 with the Santa Marta station through a 105-meter structure divided into two independent branches. This design allows an initial bidirectional circulation that splits into one-way branches, optimizing traffic flow. The foundation is solid, with deep piles and concrete pile caps, while the deck combines a reinforced concrete slab over a steel box girder, ensuring stability and durability.

The Estación Terminal Santa Marta is a key hub within the CETRAM, facilitating efficient interconnection between different public transportation systems, which will improve urban mobility and promote the use of more sustainable means of transportation. This project represents an important step forward in modernizing transportation infrastructure in one of the areas with the highest demand in Ciudad de México, benefiting thousands of users and contributing to the social and economic development of the region.
